Argentinian Consul’s Home: Manhattan Townhome Project

Studio V, December 2021

On the Upper East Side of Manhattan, the newly appointed Consul of Argentina, and her family have moved into this renovated townhome. The residence encompasses the cultural ideals of Argentina and offers a historical narrative of Argentina’s growth through the past thousands of years. By contrasting modern and indigenous art with contemporary and traditional styles, the home represents the evolving country with a thick culture. The use and representation of local materials and artisans pays homage to Argentina that sits thousands of miles away from the home. In addition to representing Argentina’s history, the residence will also display a motif of independence, as individualism is strong within the country.
